According to the National Poison Centre of the Universiti Sains Malaysia, today, 31st of May is the World ‘No Tobacco’ Day. I just realised it when I read The Star newspaper today and the governement had came out with a program called Quitline. It's a programme where well trained pharmacists help out smoker like me to curb the smoking habit.
The programme is carry out thru telephone call where smokers to seek information and advice to help them to kick off the bad habit. The programme objective is to help smokers to quit smoking without relying on medications. For those out there that wish to give it a try on the programme can call this number: 04-657-2924
Well, the government also took an earlier step by displaying the "Tak Nak" billboard that cost Health Ministry RM 50million according to Jeff Ooi.
For those who say that they will not smoke, please beware of what you had said. At the end, you yourself will be smoking. That was what happened to me when I said that.
For me, there is an impact in myself when I saw this billboard while my fingers are holding a stick of cig. I feel kind of weird and instantly throw away the cig and not long after that, I opened again a box of cig and started to smoke again. Guess that I do not have any determination to stop smoking and I do not have the intention to quit that habit.
I started this back to the time I was in college and I had my first cig when something happened back home. Do I regret taking up cig? As many people will ask me and my answer will be YES. I regret when I took up the habit and now I find it hard to kick it off. I tried to quit smoking and I determined not to smoke even a single puff to my lungs and I done it in 2 weeks time during my semester break. Why I get back to smoking? Is due to some pressure when I was re-taking a paper in the college examination and my determination crashed into pieces. It was tough time for me to quit as I need lots of sweets to replace nicotine, sleep when I need to take a sip, my nose was leaking like a pipe and my mind really tired and restless. Tough, eh? For me I am suffering without the support from my ex-gf.
Quit smoking now? Well, I don't find myself in the position that I am ready to kick the habit off as I find myself in difficulty to stop it. Currently I just cut down my number of cigs and slowly kicking off the habit on my own pace.
To quit smoking, one must have DETERMINATION, DISCIPLINE, SELF-BELIEF and SUPPORT to be able to stop smoking.
Below here is the news and guide to kick off the habit. Take a look:-
